Product Description
Sulfamic acid is a white crystalline solid, stable and non-hygroscopic. Soluble in water and formamide, slightly soluble in methanol, ether, acetone and concentrated sulfuric acid. It is classified as a strong inorganic acid and is commercially produced from urea and fuming sulfuric acid. At room temperature, dilute acid solution can be stable for a long time, but will undergo rapid hydrolysis at high temperature. Its solutions are less corrosive to metals than other inorganic acids such as hydrochloric acid.
Sulfamic acid is used as an acidic cleaner, usually in metals and ceramics. It is an alternative to hydrochloric acid and is used to remove rust. In homes, it is often used as a descaling agent in detergents, cleaners, and toilet cleaners to remove scale.
