1. Sodium sulfite is white gravel or powder crystal.  

2. Soluble in water, aqueous solution is alkaline.  Slightly soluble in alcohol.  

3. It is easy to oxidize in humid air or sunlight, forming sodium sulfate.  It has strong reducibility.  Decomposition by acid releases sulfur dioxide.  

Packing and storage:  

Industrial products are packed in plastic drums.  Reagents are packed in glass bottles and stored in sealed low temperature.
